Steinmann has long been a popular lookout point for Kragerø’s residents. The name comes from a time when the hill resembled a face, though parts of this formation have collapsed, making the resemblance less clear today. The plateau at the top was constructed by the Germans during World War II, and several historical traces from this period can still be found in the area.
The hill consists of the ancient rock amphibolite, which is over 1,500 million years old and is part of the unique geology of the Geopark.
How to get there:
The walk starts at the main square in Kragerø. Head up to Kragerø Sparebank and take the stairs to the right up Løkkebakken. Continue along Løkkebakken up Tevannbakken until you reach Steinmannstien. From here, follow the signs to the viewpoint
